And now to business. My expectations for you this week is to continue working diligently on your debates as I plan to keep the schedule outlined in the previous blog. I AM AVAILABLE BY EMAIL to answer any of your questions. Those of you scheduled for the first day of debates should SEND ME YOUR CONSTRUCTIVES via email as an attachment by Wednesday. I will read them and get back to you with comments as soon as I can considering the time difference.
REMINDERS:
Determine your contentions
Organized all affirmative and negative evidence under each contention
Annotate your evidence under each contention - using a coding system - numbers, colors, etc
Once everything is organized, take a copy of the script and
WRITE YOUR CONSTRUCTIVE
Your constructive should look like an essay with headings,
paragraphs, and with DEBATE LANGUAGE. Refer to the supporting materials on the trapezoid in the front of the room. There are scripts you must follow re: debate language and protocols
Make sure you have a copy of DEBATE PHRASES because you will want to use them in your constructive AND when you defend your argument or rebut your opponent's argument.
If you need help with more research, please remember that the library website has the EBSCO database that is a great source and goes beyond a Google search.
